Is Pelosi right?
On Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised President Joe Biden’s response to Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine.
According to a Fox News report, Pelosi said in a news conference that she thinks it’s “really important for people to understand the brilliance with which President Biden is conducting this.”
Pelosi continued her remarks, saying, “This is a man who served decades as chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee. He knows the arena. He knows the personalities.”
These statements follow Pelosi’s defense of Biden on Wednesday (February 23) after Biden imposed sanctions on Russia.
Speaking about Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, Pelosi said it is “stunning to see in this day and age a tyrant roll into a country. This is the same tyrant who attacked our democracy in 2016.”
After her breakneck congressional trip that included stops in the United Kingdom, Israel, and Germany to attend the Munich Security Conference, Pelosi held a press conference, where she revealed that Putin’s actions had unified NATO allies and the Allies’ agreement to impose severe and immediate sanctions on Russia.
This comes after statements Pelosi made at the Munich Security Conference where she spoke about Russia’s actions carrying consequences. At the time she said, “There’s a price to pay for what Putin has put us through now,” before adding, “This isn’t ‘bully the world and then take a walk,’ and you’re off the hook.”
