On Thursday (September 8) night, addressing a crowd at the Democratic National Committee summer meeting in National Harbor, Maryland, President Joe Biden laid into Republicans, claiming they had “no shame.”
Biden underscored his administration’s accomplishments, saying the GOP was attempting to claim them as their own and feigned forgetting former President Donald Trump’s name when discussing the January 6 Capitol riot.
Touring the bipartisan infrastructure bill, Biden stated, “there are a lot more Republicans taking credit for that bill than actually voted for it.”
Imitating a Republican lawmaker, Biden said in a notably deeper voice, “I see them out there. ‘And now we’re going to build this new bridge. We’re all for it.'”
Before expressing his love for such lawmakers, who he described as not having “any shame.”
“I love them, man. They’ve got no shame. They don’t have any shame,” Biden stated.
He also questioned the GOP’s support for reducing inflation, saying, “You think if they really cared about inflation, reducing it, they would have voted for the Inflation Reduction Act.”
Biden reminded the crowd of the importance of Democrats holding onto their majorities in the midterms, saying with the majority they could codify Roe v. Wade, safeguard elections, and ban assault-style weapons.
He also mentioned Trump’s promises to pardon those involved in the January 6 Capitol riot and his attempts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election results.
Pretending to forget Trump’s name, Biden said, “They tried to do it 20 times when the last guy was here. What was his name? I can’t remember,” adding, “This guy never stops. We’ll never stop, either, because we can’t let this happen.”
