Following the deadly shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, Democrats are placing blame on Republicans for the lack of gun control while appealing to voters tired of the U.S.’s mass shooting epidemic.

The loudest Democrat blaming Republicans is President Joe Biden. The President has placed his anger toward the elementary school shooting on Republicans as he called for lawmakers to be courageous in the pursuit of gun reform legislation.

The President also warned that Congress would have to answer to families who’ve lost loved ones to gun violence if they didn’t act.

On Tuesday (March 28), Biden asserted, “Congress has to act.”

Biden insisted that most Americans “think having assault weapons is bizarre,” describing owning these firearms as “crazy.”

The President claimed he couldn’t do anything other than “plead with Congress to act reasonably.”

Biden’s criticisms came a day after six people — three students and three staff members — were killed at the private Christian Elementary school in an upscale neighborhood.

A 28-year-old suspect, determined to be a former student of the school, was armed with three guns, of which two were assault-style weapons; the shooter was shot and killed by officers shortly after beginning the rampage.

Biden also addressed the question he claimed he often received most often, about why he continued to urge reforms Republicans would reject.

The President noted he continued his urging because he wants the public “to know who isn’t doing it, who isn’t helping,” noting his tactic was to “put pressure on them.”
