Why the strange timing?
On Monday (May 1), President Joe Biden hosted former President Bill Clinton for lunch, where, according to the White House, the two had “a broad conversation.”
Confirming the lunch, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the two had “talked about having lunch a few weeks ago,” adding that Monday’s lunch was “an opportunity to do exactly that.”
Psaki also noted that Biden has had “a number of conversations” with Clinton during his time in office. She added that she was sure the two would “have a broad conversation.”
The pair would have last seen each other at former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s funeral at the Washington National Cathedral on Wednesday (April 27), where both men gave eulogies.
During the press briefing, Psaki also pointed out that Biden had lunch with former President Barack Obama last week.
The meeting with Obama has become a topic of discussion as some have speculated that Obama is behind the controversial “Disinformation Board,” with the Department of Homeland Security making the announcement last week.
