On Wednesday (October 5), while surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Ian, President Joe Biden was caught on a hot mic making an explicit joke with a local official.
The exchange occurred while he and Fort Myers Beach Mayor Ray Murphy made introductions before touring the severely damaged beach town. The mix captures Murphy thanking the President for coming and exchanging pleasantries.
The hot mic then captures Biden saying, “No one f***s with a Biden,” while shaking Murphy’s hand. The Mayor jokingly responds, “Yeah, you’re g*****n right.”
Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were in Fort Myers to tour businesses and homes destroyed in last week’s hurricane, making a trip to the highly devastated Fisherman’s Wharf.
The President also addressed the community during his visit, saying, “Today, we have one job and only one job, and that’s to make sure the people in Florida get everything they need to fully thoroughly recover.”
Flanked by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and first responders, Biden continued, “We’re here today because we wanted to tell you in person that we’re thinking of you and we’re not leaving. We’re not leaving until this gets done.”
The President had extended federal emergency relief first enacted before the storm by 30 days, giving the state 60 days access to the assistance package to help rebuild.
For the afternoon, both men put their differences aside, with DeSantis, an avid critic of Biden, stating, “One of the things that you’re seeing in this response: We are cutting through the bureaucracy. We are cutting through the red tape, and that’s from local government, state government all the way up to the President.”
Wednesday’s explicit joke isn’t the first time Biden’s been caught making expletive remarks over a hot mic. Earlier in the year, Biden called Fox News reporter Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a b***h” on a hot mic after Doocy asked him about inflation.
His propensity for f-bombs is well documented in hot mic moments, going as far back as 2010 when he whispered to then-President Barack Obama, “this is a big f***ing deal,” after Obama signed the Affordable Care Act.
