(TheIndependentStar.com) – It is a sad day for America as beloved Fox News medical expert Dr. Kelly Powers has tragically passed away at 45 after a fierce battle against brain cancer.
Herself a respected podiatric surgeon and physician, Dr. Powers was a familiar face on Fox News shows like Red Eye and Fox & Friends.
Her expertise and warmth endeared her to viewers across the nation as she made complex medical issues easier to understand.
Dr. Powers was born in Yonkers, New York. She studied at Baruch College, New York College of Podiatric Medicine, University of San Francisco, Georgetown and Boston Universities.
In a shocking twist of fate, Dr. Powers experienced heart failure on live TV in 2018 during a segment on heart health.
“It’s crazy – I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business – live – on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can’t make this up.” – Dr. Powers said in Preferred Health Magazine.
Dr. Powers’ battle with glioblastoma, a deadly brain cancer, began in 2020. Despite undergoing surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, the cancer returned in 2023.
In a heartwarming testament to her character, friends rallied to raise nearly $100,000 for an experimental treatment when her cancer returned – a treatment not covered by insurance.
Reflecting on her nature, Dr. Powers- obituary read, “She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went. Kelly had a love for people and she was dedicated to helping others.”
Dr. Powers leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and complete devotion to her family.
She is survived by her loving husband Steven Doll, and their son Bennett, who was born via surrogate in 2021.
