(TheIndependentStar.com) – In a message that should be taken with a pinch of salt, President Joe Biden has used his farewell speech from the Oval Office to issue a dire warning of a rising oligarchy that threatens to undermine American democracy.

With an astoundingly low approval rating, Biden’s legacy is now shadowed by concerns over concentrated power in the hands of a few.
In his address, Biden expressed grave concerns about the emergence of an American oligarchy.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy,” he said.
This warning highlights a growing fear that the concentration of power and wealth in the hands of a few might erode fundamental rights and freedoms.
Biden didn’t shy away from criticizing the “tech-industrial complex” which he accused of misinformation and enabling the abuse of power.
He fears that figures like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, who played roles in Trump’s administration, threaten democratic processes with unchecked power and misinformation, Sky News reports.
Biden urged constitutional amendments to curb presidential immunity for crimes committed in office.
His call for vigilance seems like a direct attempt to garner public support against potential threats posed by Trump’s forthcoming term.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that really threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedom and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden declared.
Additionally, Biden used the opportunity to highlight his administration’s successes, particularly in securing a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
This directly contradicted Trump’s claims of involvement.
Despite these achievements, Biden’s approval rating stands at 36 percent—mildly above Trump’s 34 percent upon leaving office, the report points out.
Biden’s farewell was tinged with an emotional undertone as he reflected on the long-term impact of his efforts, saying, “It will take time to feel the impact of all we’ve done together, but the seeds are planted and they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come.”

However, his departure follows a poor debate performance against Trump and Kamala Harris’s subsequent unsuccessful campaign, adding to the pall over his legacy.
“It will take time to feel the impact of all we’ve done together, but the seeds are planted and they’ll grow and they’ll bloom for decades to come,” he added.
The speech also introduced bold plans for the future, emphasizing America’s need to lead in AI technology over China and expressing concerns about threats to his climate achievements.
As Biden bids farewell, he leaves a critical message on the doorsteps of every American household: “Now it’s your turn to stand guard” against a rising oligarchy and to protect the democracy that has long been a beacon of hope around the world.
