A new CNN flash poll shows that around 72 percent of Americans who watched President Biden’s second State of the Union address had a positive reaction to the speech.

According to the poll, 34 percent disclosed that they had a very positive reaction to the address, while 28 percent of Americans who viewed the speech had a negative view of the speech. More specifically, around 10 percent expressed their reaction as “very negative.”

CNN noted that the presidential State of the Union address tends to be viewed by those who are supportive of the President. In fact, according to the poll all those who watched it overall identified to be more on the Democratic side when compared to the general public.

Still, the overall approval ratings for Biden’s speech fall in line with his previous addresses. Last year, Biden had a 71 percent positive review rating following the address, while the year before it had been 78 percent. Despite this, Biden’s numbers remain lower than the numbers of many of his predecessors.

Of those who watched the speech 71 percent said that the country was going to be heading in the right direction following the policies that Biden described, while 29 percent said that the country was moving in the wrong direction.

More than half of those who viewed the State of the Union address also said that Biden managed to find a balance between ideology and his policy proposals. Around 38 percent of people said Biden had been too liberal, while 11 percent had said he was not liberal enough.
